My name is Shannon and I’m the living incarnation of Fitty and Fatty. I’m just an average woman trying to find the elusive “balance”, fit it all in and enjoy doing it!
I’m 35 years old and feel as though I’m finally starting to figure things out; budgeting & finances, self respect and acceptance, love and life. I struggle between trying to find “moderation” and going right off the rails, but every time I stumble or fall or succeed it teaches me something new about myself. I try to do the best I can given what the circumstances of the moment are. Sometimes that’s supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and sometimes it’s just barely getting by and trying to keep my head above water. I’m learning, with each passing cycle, that if I’m respectful of myself, both body and mind, and doing the best I can with what I have, then good enough truly is good enough.
This blog, not too long ago, was a specially shaped mirror with which to show and view my life. It spun the bad times and accentuated the good ones until it got to the point where I didn’t necessarily recognize myself in it. And then it went on hiatus.
I’m back now and every word you read will be the unblemished truth. That said, I do leave out more than I used to because an unblemished truth can be a bit too personal for the internet.
You’ll find me talking about things as mundane as what happened last night or weekend plans and things as important (I believe) as recognizing who we are as women; embracing our unique perfectness and eschewing social media and marketing’s goal to make us feel inadequate and thereby vulnerable to their pitches. I’ll talk about kombucha brewing and bone broth making as well as my struggles with getting sufficient exercise and finding the time to get everything done. I outline my desire for alone time mixed with my need to be all things to all people.
I suspect I’m just like you….whomever you might be….trying to find natural balance, health and content in this fast paced, 140 character, filtered snapshot world.

Hey, man, you already know you have it in you!! You just have to dust it off!
Your Fatty sounds a whole lot like My Inner Bovine…..wonder if they know each other 😉
LOL, that totally made me laugh. Maybe we can send Inner Bovine & Fatty to a distant island somewhere, never to be seen or heard from again. 😉
Hey Shanny!
You have such a great blog. I really like the way you write…..had to subscribe! 🙂
I’m looking forward to reading future posts!
xx
Thanks Lynne, that’s always very nice to hear.
Nice blog. I’ve been sharing a computer with five other people in our house so haven’t read as many blogs as I’d like to in the year I’ve been doing mine, but trying to do better in 2012 now that I’ve got some wi-fi goin’ on. Keep up the good work!
What a great explanation of the little fat devil on our shoulders! Im cheering for fitty 😀
Your blog makes me HAPPY! It creeps me out how similar it all is to where I have been the last 2.5 years! Thank-you for stopping by my blog today… Your words were spot on and just strengthened my feelings on what I need to do!
LOL, I love that…happy, but in a creepy way. LOL! Thanks for stopping by. It’s always nice to find people who are or have recently been in similar situations!
